PSX Closing Bell: Good Vibrations

The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Tuesday’s trading session at 188,621.78, showing an increase of 860.09 points or 0.46%.

The index traded in a range of 1,766.36 points showing an intraday high of 188,958.37 (+1,196.68) and a low of 187,192.01 (-569.68) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 454.30 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 57 closed up, 43 closed down.

Top gainers during the day were SAZEW (+9.13%), AICL (+5.41%), PTC (+4.94%), ATRL (+4.91%), and FATIMA (+4.80%).

On the other hand, top losers were LOTCHEM (-5.40%), PIBTL (-2.08%), SRVI (-1.94%), PGLC (-1.80%), and MEBL (-1.69%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were ENGROH (+205.80pts), PPL (+145.72pts), SAZEW (+114.13pts), OGDC (+107.46pts), and PSO (+87.89pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were MEBL (-128.93pts), HUBC (-63.24pts), UBL (-56.68pts), LUCK (-56.24pts), and HBL (-48.47pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Oil & Gas Exploration Companies (+235.05pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+202.19pts), Fertilizer (+108.35pts), Oil & Gas Marketing Companies (+89.26pts), and Automobile Assembler (+89.10pts).

While the index was let down by Commercial Banks (-120.61pts), Power Generation & Distribution (-48.29pts), Chemical (-36.17pts), Leather & Tanneries (-28.59pts), and Transport (-12.79pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 113,265.46 with a net gain of 588.60 points or 0.52%.

Total market volume was 1,225.81 million shares compared to 1,198.66m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs63.90 billion showing an increase of Rs0.10bn.

There were 519,460 trades reported in 486 companies with 238 closing up, 213 closing down, and 35 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 62,994 points or 50.14% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 14,567 points or 8.37% so far this calendar year.
