PSX Closing Bell: Up, Up and Away

 The benchmark KSE-100 Index concluded Monday’s trading session at 187,761.69, showing an increase of 2,662.86 points or 1.44%.

The index remained positive throughout the day showing an intraday high of 187,882.04 (+2,783.21) and a low of 186,127.35 (+1,028.52) points.

The total volume of the KSE-100 Index was 450.87 million shares.

Of the 100 index companies 70 closed up, 30 closed down.

Top gainers during the day were AICL (+10.00%), SRVI (+8.40%), PIBTL (+7.93%), TPLRF1 (+5.87%), and ENGROH (+5.52%).

On the other hand, top losers were HCAR (-2.77%), PIOC (-2.34%), BNWM (-2.09%), PTC (-1.99%), and KTML (-1.37%).

In terms of index-point contributions, companies that propped up the index were ENGROH (+452.05pts), UBL (+440.06pts), HUBC (+203.22pts), FFC (+173.74pts), and MEBL (+171.44pts).

Meanwhile, companies that dragged the index lower were PIOC (-32.84pts), PTC (-26.31pts), BAHL (-23.44pts), NBP (-21.75pts), and MCB (-19.24pts).

Sector-wise, KSE-100 Index was supported by Commercial Banks (+749.11pts), Inv. Banks / Inv. Cos. / Securities Cos. (+479.86pts), Fertilizer (+273.61pts), Power Generation & Distribution (+229.05pts), and Cement (+212.70pts).

While the index was let down by Technology & Communication (-24.09pts), Engineering (-6.85pts), Modarabas (-1.47pts), Tobacco (-1.16pts), and Glass & Ceramics (-0.89pts).

In the broader market, the All-Share Index closed at 112,676.86 with a net gain of 1,167.52 points or 1.05%.

Total market volume was 1,198.66 million shares compared to 959.53m from the previous session while traded value was recorded at Rs63.80 billion showing a decrease of Rs5.66bn.

There were 507,574 trades reported in 486 companies with 278 closing up, 167 closing down, and 41 remaining unchanged.

To note, the KSE-100 has gained 62,134 points or 49.46% during the fiscal year, whereas it has increased 13,707 points or 7.88% so far this calendar year.
