President Calls for Stronger Pakistan–Egypt Ties

President Asif Ali Zardari has underscored the need to further strengthen Pakistan–Egypt bilateral relations, emphasizing deeper cooperation in political, economic, and social domains. He expressed these views during a meeting with Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty, Egypt’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Emigration and Expatriates, who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Saturday.
Welcoming the visiting dignitary, President Zardari said Pakistan values its historic and fraternal ties with Egypt, which are anchored in shared faith, mutual respect, and decades of diplomatic engagement. He stated that Pakistan wishes to elevate this relationship through structured, forward-looking initiatives and conveyed his warm greetings to Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
The President highlighted that 2025 marks the 77th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Egypt—an important milestone that reflects the enduring goodwill between the two nations. He expressed confidence that both sides would capitalize on this occasion to reinvigorate cooperation across multiple sectors, particularly trade, investment, and people-to-people exchanges.
President Zardari encouraged Egyptian investors and businesses to explore emerging opportunities in Pakistan’s expanding sectors, including energy, logistics, construction, agriculture, mining, and information technology, noting that Pakistan remains committed to facilitating foreign investment through favorable policies and improved economic conditions.
Dr. Badr Ahmed Mohamed Abdelatty delivered a special message from President El Sisi and reaffirmed Egypt’s strong interest in enhancing its partnership with Pakistan. He stressed Egypt’s willingness to collaborate closely in areas of mutual benefit and emphasized the need to strengthen institutional linkages to advance bilateral cooperation.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on important regional and international developments. They reiterated their resolve to work together for promoting peace, stability, and prosperity, particularly in regions where their interests converge.
Earlier, President Zardari and the Egyptian Foreign Minister held a one-on-one meeting, where they discussed matters of mutual concern and reviewed the overall trajectory of bilateral ties.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Senator Sherry Rehman, Syed Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and the Secretary Foreign Affairs. The Ambassador of Egypt to Pakistan, Dr. Ihab Mohamed Abdelhamid Hassan, was also present.
